Are you an AIDA judge, or have aspirations of being a judge for open water (salt & fresh water) and indoor freediving competitions?
With the world starting to open back up and freediving on the rise more now than ever, the US Freediving Federation will be holding judge courses over the next few months. In order to be able to support this growth for those that want to extend their freediving experience, we need to create a national network of judges to enable competitions and record attempts.
(1) Cross-over Course: This course is designed to serve as a cross-over course for judges that have been certified under AIDA rules over the last 3 years. Since both CMAS and AIDA competition rules are comparable, this program will highlight the differences and similarities so those candidates are free to provide judging services with either set of rules here in the United States. Upon successful completion and evaluation by the Judge Trainer, the candidates will be US Freediving Federation certified judges under CMAS competition rules and potentially capable to serve as either the main or assistant judge for competitions and record attempts.
(2) Beginner Course: This course is designed to accept new comers into the judging world so they can learn about the CMAS competition rules and serve as an assistant judge for competitions and record attempts sanctioned by the US Freediving Federation. There will be a ladder program for assistant judges so they have a pathway to becoming main judges.
WHAT DO YOU NEED TO DO?
No dates have been set for courses, details are being fine tuned and having the courses is subject to level of interest. SEND AN EMAIL if you’d like to put your name on the list and have any questions. We need at least 6 people to the run the program. Location doesn’t matter as this will be done remotely over Zoom. Once we have all the details ready, and enough interest has been expressed, we will email you.
The goal here is to provide freedivers with an opportunity to compete with oneself or others. It doesn’t always have to be about winning or records, but rather a sense of accomplishment and meeting personal goals. Let’s work together and help each other get there.
