US NATIONAL TEAM SELECTION

The guidelines below have been established to provide clarity on eligibility and the selection process for the US National Team in either indoor or outdoor.

The understated will be considered until such time that the US Freediving Federation (USFF) holds a national championship as part of the qualification process. For the 2024 competition year, the US National Team for depth and indoor each will “only” have 3 Senior Males & 3 Senior Females. As for Masters, it will remain 6 Males & 6 Females.

The athlete candidates will pass through and be approved by a USFF committee, and candidature will be based on the following components:

  • Must have US nationality

  • Must have USFF Membership that is valid through to the end of the competition calendar year

  • Must have DAN Insurance (or equivalent) and provide proof that it is current through to the end of the calendar year

  • Total score count over the last (12) months from any officially sanctioned CMAS or AIDA competition

    • Only white cards will be considered.

    • You are responsible for presenting official competition results upon request by the USFF (results must have been publicly posted by the organizer or provide the signed competition report).

  • You must have a documented competition dive within 75% of the current US national record for any discipline in which you will be competing. If you do not, your application will be discarded.

  • Competition Experience at the national or international level (in any context, i.e. judge, commentator, safety, medical, etc.)

  • Team Spirit

The USFF has the right to make any adjustment it deems necessary and convenient to the benefit and goodwill of the sport of freediving, the team and the community.

The USFF has the right to pull any athlete from the US National Team who does not display good sportsmanlike conduct, and/or participates in the encouragement and/or use of any performance enhancing drugs.

As a member of the US Freediving Federation, you are bound by the 2023 USFF Doping Guidelines which were published.  If you are not familiar with them, it is strongly recommended that you review the document.  Here is a link to the document.
