I think the entire freediving community as a whole is what has been my biggest inspiration to dive. I’ve met some of the most amazing people from different parts of the world, and to see how incredibly humble and down to earth many of them are no matter the depths they’re diving is really inspiring.
PROFILE: Andriy Khvetkevych, 2019 TEAM AMERICA
When I started to Freedive, I immediately recognized I was using a lot of meditation techniques during my dives. My knowledge of meditation has propelled my freediving career and because of these tools I’ve reached new goals and new states of mind. Freediving completely changed the trajectory of my life. Utilizing my knowledge base, I have created my own course “Meditation for Freediving” which helps students reach their goals faster and safer. Freediving has allowed me to combine my two greatest passions.
Freediving takes you to the depths of despair and the peaks of excitement
January 13, 2019 - The final day of my Los Angeles free-diving course happened to coincide with my 12th wedding anniversary. Instead of drinking wine with my better half, I was scheduled to dive the Pacific Ocean to a depth of 75 feet — on a single lungful of air. It seemed an inconvenient, not to say selfish, day on which to drown.
I was new to free-diving. But I had read enough to know that the sport required strong nerves and large lungs.

The AquaMan Effect: A freediving frenzy in today’s pop culture
The third industry following along the freediving craze may just be taking notice, but you can be certain it’s about to kick it into high gear. In a month’s time, Warner Bros. Studio releases their latest film Aquaman, which turns towards the underwater world of the seven seas - and plenty of freediving by Jason Momoa in the title role. In the 1960s, the famous Sea Hunt television series grasped audience’s attention and brought tremendous awareness to the scubadiving community. Who’s to say Aquaman won’t provide that same rush for the sport of freediving?
