Los Angeles, CA - Home of the 2028 Olympic Games
2024 is a big year for the amateur sports scene, the Olympics in Paris, the CMAS indoor World Championships in Belgrade, Serbia on one end and CMAS Outdoor Depth World Championships in Kalamata, Greece on the other end. Straddling both events like the gymnast Simone Biles we have our own performer, adventurer, freediving instructor and all around great human - Rachel Novak.
Rachel was the voice and commentator on the DiveEye live stream from Belgrade, and she will return to Europe to take up the post for the Outdoor Worlds in Kalamata. It is great having someone so professional and with such knowledge around the sport to guide us through the competition.
Working as a commentator for the CMAS Freediving Indoor World Championships in Serbia this year, according to Rachel, was so exciting! The event was held in the “25th of May” Sports Center, which was just a five minute bike or bus ride from the host hotel and right along the Danube River. Approximately 254 athletes participated in the event, which was a qualifying event for the World Games in China for 2025. Between long but exciting days at the pool, and even longer nights preparing for the next day of commentary, Rachel managed to find about two hours each day to hop on a bicycle and explore the wealth of culture and history found in Belgrade.
”It was a pleasure getting to cheer on the US National Team from the sidelines and reconnect with friends that I met while competing at the CMAS Freediving Depth World Championships in Roatán last year, and I’m looking forward to Kalamata in October” says Rachel Novak.
”We really appreciate Rachel’s professionalism and flexibility to provide such support to an important moment for many freedivers from around the World. Thank you for your commitment and dedication, states Jeremy Stephan, President of the US Freediving Federation for CMAS.”
