December 1 - 3, 2023 marks the dates for the 2023 “UNU” Tampa Bay Freediving Challenge event which is being organized by Jani Valdivia. The event is being held at the HIGH 5 Pool located in Brandon, Florida, just outside Tampa. This event will serve as the US Nationals for both the US Freediving Federation (CMAS) and USA Freediving (AIDA).
The importance of this event is that it will serve as the US National Pool Championships for both the US Freediving Federation (CMAS) and USA Freediving (AIDA). This is the first time in history for the USFF/CMAS to have a national pool championship as well as both agencies collaborating for a US national championship. We are proud to announce that athletes have the option to be judged by AIDA or CMAS rules for the competition. This event is the fourth freediving pool competition in the United States which will be officially judged under both CMAS and AIDA rules.
As an athlete, you have the opportunity to compete under either AIDA or CMAS rules. No later than November 1st, you must declare under which agency rules you will be performing for the entirety of the competition. If you choose to perform under CMAS rules to possibly achieve a CMAS national pool record, please send an email to president@usfreedivingfederation.org to make a record announcement and become a member. There are a number of US Freediving Federationnational pool records up for grabs.
