23 athletes — across Senior and Masters divisions — will officially represent the United States at the 2026 CMAS Freediving World Championships. This marks the fifth consecutive year that athletes in the Masters (50+) category will compete at Worlds.

Team Selection

HOW TO
JOIN THE TEAM

The USFF National Team is selected annually. Candidature is reviewed and approved by a USFF committee. There are two teams — Indoor and Outdoor — typically each with 3 Senior Males, 3 Senior Females, 6 Masters Males, and 6 Masters Females. Registration usually opens in December. Current year teams are selected and announced in January.

US Nationality — Required. Only US nationals are eligible for National Team selection.

Valid USFF Membership — Must be current through the end of the competition calendar year.

DAN Insurance — Or equivalent coverage, with proof of validity through the end of the competition year.

Competition Performance — Total score from any officially sanctioned CMAS or AIDA competition in the last 12 months (white cards only).

75% Threshold — Must have a documented competition dive within 75% of the current US national record in any discipline being competed.

Competition Experience — At national or international level in any capacity: competitor, judge, safety diver, medical, or commentator.

Team Spirit — Demonstrated sportsmanship and commitment to the USFF community.
Policies
The USFF reserves the right to adjust selection criteria and to remove any athlete who does not display good sportsmanlike conduct or who participates in the use or encouragement of performance-enhancing drugs. All members are bound by the 2023 USFF Doping Guidelines.

FIRST STEP

USFF membership is required to compete at any CMAS-sanctioned event and to be eligible for National Team consideration.

 

2026 US NATIONAL Team

The following AQUAMEN and AQUAWOMEN will officially represent the United States at the 2026 CMAS Indoor and Outdoor Freediving World Championships. The Indoor World Championships will take place in Serbia and the Outdoor Depth World Championships will take place in Honduras.

We are very proud of the team for making an appearance at this year’s international competitions. 2026 marks the largest team ever to perform at the World Championships.  This is the largest team (22 athletes) ever from the United States to perform at the World Championships. This is the 5th year that athletes in the Masters (50+ yrs.) category will be performing at Worlds.
